Why Spark Columbus Exists?

AI is changing everything, fast. Most people are expected to figure it out alone and pay for it. We think that's backwards.

Essential skills should be free. Learning should feel like hanging out with friends. And when things change this quickly, we're all better off figuring it out together.

That's the simple philosophy behind Spark Columbus a community where people learn AI skills from each other, for free, in a way that feels human.

Our Mission

We help people learn AI together—for free. When someone figures something out, they turn around and share it with someone else. That way, nobody has to fall behind.
We're not just teaching AI skills—we're gathering the first systematic data on how real people actually learn and adopt AI in their daily lives. Every session contributes to a growing understanding of what makes AI education work for everyone.

Our Vision

A world where AI skills spread naturally—friend to friend, neighbor to neighbor. Learning feels human and hopeful, and no one has to face big changes alone.

Our Approach

Spark Columbus uses group coaching methodology adapted for AI skill development. This evidence-based approach recognizes that adults learn complex technical skills most effectively through structured peer interaction, supported by facilitators who understand both the technical content and group dynamics. Our dual-facilitator model ensures quality learning while capturing ethnographic data about real user needs and learning patterns.

Our Core Values

  • People First

We exist for people, not profits — your dignity and opportunity matter most.

  • Learn Together

We all win when we share — everyone has something to teach, and everyone has something to learn.

  • Always Free

Essential AI skills shouldn’t cost money — learning should be open and accessible to all.

  • Mistakes Welcome

We’re all figuring this out together — mistakes are just learning in disguise.

  • Thoughtful Use

We use AI mindfully, not wastefully — asking “should we?” instead of just “can we?

The Bigger Picture

Columbus is our testing ground. We're figuring out what works and what people actually need to learn. But our goal is bigger than one city.

We want to create a model any community can use—neighbors helping neighbors through change.

Imagine communities everywhere where people don't have to face technological change alone. Where learning new skills feels natural, not intimidating. Where everyone has something to teach and something to learn.

What's Next

Right now, we're launching and finding who wants to be part of this. We don't have all the answers, but we know people shouldn't have to face big changes alone.

We're starting small—a few groups, real conversations, practical skills. As we learn what works, we'll grow thoughtfully. Every person who joins helps us understand how to make this better for everyone.
